Dafydd Elis-Thomas is your Plaid Cymru Assembly Member in Dwyfor Meirionnydd for the National Assembly for Wales.
Dafydd has been the Assembly Member for Dwyfor Meirionnydd since the formation of the constituency in 2007 and was previously the Assembly Member for Meirionnydd Nant Conwy from 1999 to 2007. Dafydd also represented Meirionnydd in the UK Parliament from 1974 to 1983, as well as Meirionnydd Nant Conwy until 1992.
Dafydd was the first Presiding Officer of the National Assembly for Wales between 1999 and 2011, and is recognised by all parties as leading improvements and reforms in the Assembly's ways of working and on the legislative processes of Wales.
Dafydd has also been an active member of the House of Lords since 1992, where he still continues to further the cause for devolution and promote fairness. He was Chair of the Welsh Language Board from 1992 to 1999 and is the Chancellor of Bangor University and the Honorary President of Grŵp Llandrillo Menai.
He has lived in Snowdonia throughout his life and especially enjoys the paths, mountains and forests. Dafydd was recently appointed by the Minister for Natural Resources to lead a working group on future landscapes including Snowdonia and Llŷn which will report later this year.
